- In light-textured (sandy) soils, it binds the sand particles to each other by means of its adhesive feature and clusters them and thickens the soil. Thus, both the water retention ability of the soil increases and the rapid loss (washing away) of plant nutrients from the soil is prevented.
- It prevents the formation of cream layer in the soil. Thus, germinated plantlets can easily surface to the soil without being exposed to a zigzag obstacle.
- It prevents the plant from water stress in arid conditions. It provides more solar energy absorption by darkening the colour of the soil. In easily warmed soil, seeds germinate in a shorter time and the product is harvested earlier.
- It increases biological activity in the soil by stimulating the growth and reproduction of beneficial soil microorganisms.
- It also stabilises the soil pH. With these features, it transforms the nutrients in the soil into the form that the plant can utilise and increases the nutrient uptake capacity of the plant.
